The Corvette has been Chevrolet’s flagship sports car since its introduction in 1953. Originally only available as a convertible, the coupe version was added with the debut of the second generation cars in 1963. This was also the introduction of the Stingray look, with the hidden headlamps and distinctive tapering rear deck now so closely associated with the Corvette’s look. The Corvette has continued to evolve over the years, adding innovations like the all aluminum ZL1 engine in 1969 and the first T-top in 1982. Now in its 7th generation, the Corvette shows no signs of slowing down.
The ZR1 engine was introduced in 2007. This Eaton-supercharged 6.2-liter engine has a top speed of 205 mph and was the the most powerful to be put into a GM production sports car. The latest versions of the Vette are available in a variety of trims, and a 7-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
