A truly unique vehicle, the Chevy Volt first operates as a pure battery electric vehicle. Once the battery capacity drops to a certain level, the internal combustion engine takes over, powering an electric generator to extend the vehicle's range up to 420 miles on a single charge with a full tank of gas. The 2016 redesign adds Teen Driver Technology that allows parents to use a PIN to see how their teen is driving and set limits on music volume and speed.
