peace for pits

Peace for Pits is the October Vote to Donate Winner

If you aren’t a dog owner, there’s a good chance that pit bulls make you nervous. Unfortunately, a very small percentage of the animals have ever showed propensity towards violence. Many pit bulls just need a chance with a good home. But before that can happen, so many are needlessly euthanized. Peace for Pits, our October Vote to Donate Winner here at Martin Chevrolet, was created to help these misunderstood animals. more Peace for Pits takes in pit bulls from high kill facilities across the state of Illinois, as well as dogs that are given up (on-delete) by their owners. Many of the dogs have health problems or injuries when they arrive, making their needs even more time sensitive. The 100% volunteer run organization hopes to save all pit bulls from being euthanized. The dogs also receive the care they so badly need at the facility. By being the Vote to Donate winner for October, Peach for Pits received $500 and logo placement on our website. Charities and non-profits are currently being nominated through our Facebook page. To nominate a charity, simply post them on our page before Nov. 15. At that point, we will take all of the nominees and hold a vote for the duration of the month. If your charity already won, it can still be nominated, as a single charity can win three awards within the year. We love to give back here at Martin Chevrolet near McHenry, IL. This is one way in which we can. Don’t forget to nominate - and then don’t forget to vote! A charity and non-profit could really benefit from your assistance. If you have any questions regarding the program rules visit our Vote to Donate page or reach out to us at the dealership.

2015 corvette stingray badge

2015 Corvette Stingray has arrived at Martin Chevrolet

2015 Chevy Corvette Stingray McHenry, IL It took a while for Chevrolet to bring the Stingray back into the Corvette fold. But given the stats on the 2015 Corvette Stingray, it’s obvious it was well worth the wait. And you don’t have to merely read the stat line on the new Stingray - you can see what the 2015 Corvette Stingray in McHenry, IL offers in person right now at Martin Chevrolet. That’s right, the coveted new Corvette has arrived on the dealership’s lot. more There are a lot of reasons to check out the new Stingray. The first and most intriguing might be what is under the hood. This finely tuned sports car features a 460 horsepower V-8 engine that has been track tested to carry the Vette from 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. And yet, it can get fuel efficiency up to 29 mpg on the highway. It all adds up to figures that truly seem too good to be true. A big reason the impressive performance is possible is the cooling system. All of that power creates heat, so channeling it out efficiently while getting cool air where the car needs it is essential. Dual rear quarter panel intake vents guide the air to heat exchangers, channeling cool air to the oil cooler. Another one cools the rear differential and lets hot air escape through the taillamp vents. The airflow also allows the car to achieve maximum downforce, which is necessary at higher speeds. The hood air extractor directs air in through the grille. Of course, the new Corvette looks as good as it performs, inside and out. And the seats are contoured specifically to a driver’s needs, making the Corvette the ultimate driver’s car. Like we said, the best way to check out the new 2015 Corvette Stingray is in person here at Martin Chevrolet located near McHenry, IL. Are you ready for it?

It’s the 2015 Equinox vs 2015 Escape in a crossover showdown

In the past few years, the crossover segment has become one of the automotive industry’s most popular. Because of this, every manufacturer is working to have the best options available for consumers. One such manufacturer is Chevrolet, which offers the new Equinox in McHenry IL in the category. But close competitor Ford also has a formidable option in the segment in the form of the Ford Escape. At Martin Chevrolet, we are all about transparency in the buying process. That’s why we are taking an honest look at the competition of 2015 Chevy Equinox vs 2015 Ford Escape. more At first glance, the vehicles seem to have very similar appearances. But when you look at the stats, the Equinox is a tad bit larger than the Escape. The Equinox stands 5 ft, 9 in. tall and is 15 ft, 7.8 in. in length. In comparison, the Escape is 5 ft, 6.3 in. tall and 14 ft, 10.1 in. long. The small amount of extra room is noticeable when sitting in the Equinox, so all five passenger seats offer ample room. The Escape does offer a marginal amount of additional cargo space, as the Equinox has 31.5 cu. ft. of cargo space with all seats in place compared to 34.3 cu. ft. on the Escape. As for fuel efficiency, the two vehicles are identical, both topping out at 32 mpg highway fuel efficiency. But because it has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, the Chevrolet entry has better output, with 182 horsepower, compared to just 173 horsepower on the Escape. Getting more output with the same amount of fuel economy is a big win for the Equinox in this competition. The Equinox also offers a capable V-6 for those looking for additional output. This engine can offer up 301 horsepower. And as an added bonus, the new Equinox comes with a built-in wi-fi connection for those wanting to stay connected everywhere they go. Of course we are bias, so the Equinox will be our favorite. Get in touch with us if you have more questions - or if you want to try out the Chevy crossover in person.

Take a Chevy test drive and help in the fight to end breast cancer

Unfortunately, most of us know someone who has been affected by breast cancer in some way. Whether it be a family member, friend or co-worker, there is a good chance someone in your life’s circle has dealt with the disease. But fortunately, thanks to many efforts geared toward awareness, early detection is much more common. This is huge, as the key to beating this ugly disease is often catching it in its early stages. more Chevrolet is one of the many companies that is throwing its hat into the ring in the ongoing fight against breast cancer. You see, every time you test drive a car in the Chicagoland area either here at Martin Chevrolet or any local dealership, Chevrolet will contribute $10 toward the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program. Considering the number of test drives that take place nationwide, this is quite a commitment. In addition to simply taking a test drive, Chevrolet also encourages people to help spread the word by sharing their experience. Take a picture of yourself after your test drive and use the hashtag #IDriveFor and share the story of who you are dedicating your drive to. Everyone has someone that could use a little encouragement in their fight, and like we said, awareness is the key. Of course, direct donations to the American Cancer Society are also welcome and can be submitted by visiting cancer.org/chevroletmsabc. For information on the many cancer walks taking place, visit MakingStridesWalk.org. This year, help spread the word with a Chevy test drive and by using #IDriveFor. What you do, however small, could make a big difference.

Chevrolet lineup scores high safety numbers

How important is safety when considering which vehicle to purchase? We’re guessing that it would be pretty high on your list - especially if you have a family. If this means that you are looking for a safe vehicle, then look no further than the Chevrolet family of vehicles for a safe vehicle. Chevrolet has more vehicles score a 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration than any other brand with eight vehicles getting the highest possible rating. more There is a vehicle for nearly every kind of vehicle consumer on the list as well. The Chevy 5-star safety rating vehicles included the Malibu, Cruze, Volt, Sonic, Impala, Traverse, Camaro Coupe and Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. So whether you are looking for a car for yourself, your family or a work truck, you have a safe pick within the Chevrolet lineup. Chevrolet is continually working on developing the next big thing when it comes to vehicle safety. The Volt, Sonic, Impala and Silverado all offer Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning. These systems keep the driver completely in tune with their surroundings. Forward Collision Alert notifies the driver when an object is approaching and it appears that they are not attempting to miss it. The Lane Departure Warning does just what it says, notifying the driver if the vehicle attempts to navigate out of its lane. More traditional safety systems like air bags, rear vision camera and side blind zone alert area are also available on the Chevy models - including popular cars like the new Chevy Cruze. The Cruze and Malibu, small and mid-size cars, both have 10 standard air bags. Clearly, the Chevrolet brand has some safe options. And they are also very stylish, efficient and heavy on performance. Check them out today at Martin Chevrolet!
